    Sharon Fellner is a dedicated medical technologist who has made impressive strides in her career. She currently works at Baton Rouge General Hospital, where she performs various laboratory tests. Her role involves performing laboratory tests, including hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, serology, and analyzing samples to help doctors diagnose and monitor patients' conditions.     Sharon's passion for the medical field started early on. She earned her bachelor's in Biology from Louisiana State University in 2007. After that, she pursued her Master's in Human Genetics at Tulane University, which she completed in 2011. Later, she went on to earn her Doctorate in Medicine from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in 2018.

     

    Despite being a qualified physician, Sharon pursued laboratory science instead of a medical residency. In June 2019, she worked as a clinical documentation improvement specialist at Byrd Regional Hospital in Leesville, LA, where she gained valuable experience in the field.

     

    Sharon's desire to help others and her love of teaching led her to work as an instructor at Delgado Community College. From August 2011 to May 2012, she taught various classes, including Anatomy and Physiology lecture and lab courses, Microbiology lecture classes, Biology for non-science majors lecture classes, and Biology for science majors lab classes. She returned to Delgado Community College in January 2018 and taught anatomy and physiology until May.

     

    In addition to her impressive educational background and teaching experience, Sharon also holds a Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science from Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University, which she earned in 2021. She also earned her Certified Coding Associate certification from AHIMA in December 2019, which has helped her enhance her medical coding and billing skills.
